An All Hallow’s Eve Movie Night
Written by: Amanda Beth Martin
Emma finished propping an old family bike against the side of the barn as Alice carefully placed an arrangement of flowers inside its wicker basket. Taking several steps back, the sisters paused to admire their work.
In front of the faded barn, bright-orange pumpkins and an antique vase filled with dried wheat sat amongst the golden tones of freshly bailed hay.
Alice turned to her sister with a satisfied smile, "Well?"
"Perfect, as usual," said Emma in a low, raspy voice as she teasingly leaned in and gave her sister a playful shove. “It’s going to be a lovely evening. Very festive.”
The pair turned around to double-check the movie setup. A large inflatable screen with speakers and a projector sat towards the back of the yard. To the left, dozens of oversized pillows and blankets were stacked up for people to grab. To the right, a buffet of spooky treats and drinks sat on a row of orange and black tables.
Alice gave her sister a quick side hug as they heard cries of greeting from the main house. “Hey, you guys!” Alice shouted, waiving them over.
"Let the witching hour begin!" exclaimed Emma with a mischievous smile.
